We’ve spent some time judging at the Quality Food Awards during the summer. It was our first time taking part in such an event and we can say that it was an interesting experience. Our second session was particularly so as it was specifically for the small producer entrants.
Anyway, it has certainly been busy here at The Artisan Food Trail as you can see from our packed newsletter this month. When we’ve not been out in the garden enjoying the sunshine and nurturing the tomatoes in the greenhouse, we’ve enjoyed testing out some more products from our members. From sweet nutty confectionery to savoury nutty snacks, seeded crackers and dried, salted fish You can read our reviews of Fudge Kitchen,
Mr Filbert’s, Highland Crackers and Thule Ventus on the AFT blog.
It’s always heartening to continue receiving applications from food and drink producers wishing to become members of The Artisan Food Trail and we’re pleased to welcome more this month – Eastgate Larder who specialise in all things Medlar and Mortier’s Fine Tea bringing the best Ceylon tea that Sri Lanka has to offer. We look forward to working together.
The Artisan Food Trail also received some exciting news – we have made it on to the shortlist in The Rural Business Awards Having entered the ‘Best Rural Creative or Media-based Business’ it is an honour to be a finalist. We’ll be betting all dressed up to attend the awards ceremony which is on 5th October.
The AFT Kitchen has been rustling up some recipes for you to enjoy; a kipper pâté and a very seasonal grouse dish. We hope you try them.
Remember to mark your calendar for the Farm Business Innovation Show in November. The Artisan Food Trail will be exhibiting again this year as well as giving a talk. We look forward to seeing you there.
