September is a very busy time on The Artisan Food Trail. We’ve been working with a number of producers across the year that will be at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair trade show opening this weekend and will be visiting ourselves. At the end of September you’ll find us at the Food Entrepreneur and Takeaway Innovations Show at London’s ExCel. These shows are open to anyone looking to set up, develop or grow their existing business. Tickets are free if you register in advance and if you’re looking for help and advice we are running a ‘Pitch to the Experts’ competition - pitch your business to us and our team and you could win up to £10k of help (info and links below). Our competiton to win Tg Green Tea goodies ends soon, so get your entries in. You can read about their hot green teas as one of this month’s approvals too. Our recipes this month both feature Mackerel - just because it’s in season, it’s tasty and good for you too. both recipes can use ingredients from our Artisan Food Trail members - enjoy.

ARefreshing Change: Tg Hot Green Teas
A short while ago we tested out Tg Green Teas Iced Teas which won our approval and now it’s time to put the kettle on and brew up their hot teas. There are three flavour variations, each in neat pyramid bags which are filled with good quality tea leaves..

Grilled Mackerel with Pepper Salad
Mackerel is at its seasonal best and available widely, so make the most of it this summer. Lightly seasoned with a smoked paprika oil, we’ve paired the mackerel with a tangy and fruity pepper salad to bring a taste of the Mediterranean to the table.

Spiced Mackerel with Fennel Slaw
Our second mackerel recipe includes some interesting flavours for a light and healthy meal which is good any day of the week. Fennel is one of our favourite vegetables with its fresh aniseed flavour and, in our opinion, so much nicer than cabbage in a slaw.
