We recently began our small, family run business Cardona & Son after first starting to keep rare breed pigs for ourselves over four years ago. We were so impressed by the taste and quality of the pork and so were our friends and family (Our legendary barbeques sometimes lasted for days!) that we thought it only fair to start sharing with our local community.
We now supply some of the best pubs in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire as well as many local families who have also discovered the superior taste (and amazing crackling!) which only a rare breed pig can provide.
We believe the tastiness of our pork is down to a few key factors:
All our pigs are free-range giving them the freedom to display natural behaviours associated with outdoor life such as rooting, foraging and running freely.
Our pork is sourced from only traditional British Rare Breeds including Tamworth, Large Black, Saddleback and Gloucester Old Spot – all of which are on the RBST watchlist. Rare Breeds are naturally built for taste as opposed to intensive farming and are bred for quality, not quantity .
And finally, our pigs are fattened slowly on a diet which is free of growth promoters resulting in a much fuller taste. Many of the UK’s top chefs demand meat from rare breeds not because it’s the latest trend, but because it really does taste so much better.

All boxes delivered fresh and free of charge within a 10 mile radius of Stotfold.
The boxes are sold by weight, if you would like specific cuts, please let us know when you order.
Pork can also be ordered by whole, half and quarter carcass butchered to your specifications.
We can also provide a whole hog prepared for a traditional Hog Roast.
