Durwin Banks with his sisters, Gay and Wendy are proud to run The Linseed Farm as a family partnership. They come from a long tradition of farmers and started growing and pressing Linseed thirteen years ago.

The family believe passionately in all the linseed products that they have in their portfolio, and the health benefits that they continue to provide their customers. Customer service is a high priority for them, and they are always delighted to chat to anyone, answer their questions about Linseed, it’s nutritional benefits and to handle their general enquiries.

Linseed is one of the richest sources of omega 3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), containing over 50% omega 3. Because it’s plant based, it’s a great vegetarian and vegan source of omega 3. Omega 3 has many benefits in the body including helping to support a healthy nervous and cardiovascular system as well as supporting healthy joints, skin, hair and nails.

Our very mild and nutty flavoured linseed oil can help contribute to healthy cholesterol levels as part of tailored cholesterol lowering healthy diet.

Our linseed meal (crushed linseed) is a great source of soluble fibre. Fibre is essential for a healthy digestive system, helping to relieve common symptoms such as constipation (make sure you drink some water at the same time!) and helping to support gut health. Its fibre content also helps make you feel fuller for longer, so it can be useful as part of a weight management programme.

Linseed meal and seeds are great sources of protein. Protein is the building block of life and is essential to the immune system and to help cell growth and tissue repair. Protein is digested slower than carbohydrate so it helps to provide a steady energy supply throughout the morning. Sprinkle linseeds and linseed meal onto muesli, granola or porridge at breakfast to increase its protein content.

Linseed also contains lignans, which may have hormone balancing effects and may offer benefits to pre and post menopausal women and those suffering from the symptoms of PMS.
